How large South Africa’s top websites are

Pingdom’s Website Speed Test reveals how large South Africa’s top websites are, and how long they take to load.

Pingdom’s test reveals that MSN and Gumtree are the least data-intensive websites in South Africa, and have the fastest loading times.

Pingdom’s test uses web browsers for testing, so the results match the end-user experience.

“We use a bunch of instances of Google’s Chrome web browser to load websites, record performance data, and so on,” said Pingdom.

These tests are performed from dedicated Pingdom servers, which are located in the United States, Australia, and Sweden.

MyBroadband used the service to test the speed of the top 10 websites in South Africa, using US-based Pingdom servers.
