Twitter has a hate problem

Twitter shout

Twitter has become known as a place where groups of users are harassing others, often aggressively.

According to the publication Backchannel, Twitter has a hate problem, and trolls are winning the war.

“Too often Twitter’s users are subject to pernicious streams of abuse and harassment,” said Backchannel.

While Twitter is facing many problems, including slowing revenue growth and a failure to attract new users, trolling is its biggest challenge, it said.

“Harassment dissuades new users from wanting to sign up, drives formerly-loyal tweeters to close their accounts, and gives advertisers pause as they consider where to place their brand dollars.”

“Twitter is running out of time to figure out how to maintain its open platform, while keeping abusers from unleashing their plague of hate.”
