Scammers take over KickassTorrents mirror

KickassTorrents header

Former KickassTorrents mirror Kat.am is back online, but has been taken over by scammers, TorrentFreak reports.

The domain was suspended after the founder of KickassTorrents, Artem Vaulin, was arrested in Poland.

Vaulin has been charged with committing copyright infringement and conspiracy to commit money laundering.

Following the suspension of the Kat.am domain, TorrentFreak reported that the registrar released it for re-registration, where scammers picked it up.

Although the site appears to be a KickassTorrents mirror, it asks people to create an account and link a credit card to it if they want to download files.
