Today is Internauts Day
Today is the 25-year anniversary of the day the World Wide Web became publicly available on the Internet.
23 August became known as Internauts Day, when internauts – technical people using the Internet – began to include the general public.
Internaut is a portmanteau of the words Internet and astronaut, and refers to a designer, operator, or technically-capable user of the Internet.
“The creation of the World Wide Web by Tim Berners-Lee enabled non-technical computer experts to use the Internet in a simple and quick way, making it accessible to billions of people around the world,” the Internaught website explains.
