Twitter’s latest transparency report released
Twitter has published its transparency report for the first half of 2016, highlighting trends in legal requests it’s received, intellectual property-related requests, and email privacy best practices.
According to the report, Twitter received 5,676 government and non-government requests for account information. There were no requests from South Africa.
Twitter complied with 69% of the requests in some manner.
Twitter received 4,434 removal requests from government agencies and police, and a further 761 requests through court orders.
Twitter said the removal requests were generally regarding content that may be illegal in a specific jurisdiction.
One of these requests came from South Africa, but Twitter did not comply with the request.
