New Speedtest.net interface launched
Ookla, the company behind the popular Speedtest.net service, is well known for their broadband speed testing and web-based network diagnostic applications.
The Speedtest.net service is by far the most popular broadband speed testing tool globally, and in a recent poll over 85% of MyBroadband readers indicated that they use Speedtest.net to test their broadband connection.
The company also maintains the Ookla Net Index service which provides averages and details around consumer broadband upload and download speeds, as well as an overall measurement of connection quality based on key criteria including ping, jitter and packet loss.
New interface and better service
Speedtest.net recently rolled out their new user interface. This new service not only provides users with a fresh look, but also allows users to personalize their experience with user registration.
The company also added a “Begin Test” button which uses a new method to automatically select a server based on the lowest ping time at that moment. “This usually results in the fastest and most accurate test result because the server is the closest to you from a computer networking perspective,” Speedtest.net states.
Ookla also launched their Speed Wave service – a way to compare results with others and share the information within a certain group.
