Google testing new Material Design on search page
Google is testing a subtly-different version of its main search page that implements Material Design principles, 9to5Google reported.
For the accounts where the design is being tested, the search bar on Google’s homepage now features a drop shadow.
According to the report, the shadow also features on the search results page – where the app bar now extends over the search media tab bar.
The Google logo is larger and the gear icon has been replaced by a text link to “Settings”. The search tools button has been moved from next to the media tabs, to next to the new settings link.
9to5Google reported that certain searches which return “Top News” results now come up as story cards. Up to three may be displayed side-by-side and they may include images.
