Twitter changes its default profile picture
Twitter announced this weekend that it had replaced its egg profile picture with a human silhouette.
The egg profile picture has been the default photo for new users since 2010, but has become associated with negative behaviour.
Twitter said it noticed harassment and negative behaviour directed at new users with the default egg profile picture.
Twitter hopes the new greyscale human silhouette picture will encourage users to upload their own personalised profile picture.
The company said it chose a gray, generic image to communicate that the picture is meant to be replaced by a profile photo.
