Disqus is improving its product offering and is enforcing its policies to fight hateful and toxic content online.
Disqus is used by a large number of online publishers for their comment sections, and toxic language, harassment, and hate is often prevalent.
“With such a large network of publishers and commenters, having a policy against hateful, toxic content is critical,” said Disqus.
The company has built a Terms of Service Violations Submissions form to help address comments which violate its policies.
Disqus is also introducing new features to help publishers moderate discussions:
- More powerful moderation features – Shadow banning and Timeouts.
- Toxic content detection through machine learning – This will help publishers to identify hate speech and toxic content.
- Commenting policy recommendations – This will help publishers with their custom commenting and community guidelines by making them more visible to readers.
