The alleged founder of KickassTorrents, Artem Vaulin, has been released on bail of $108,000, The Verge reported.
Vaulin, a Ukrainian national, was arrested in Poland in 2016 after being linked to KickassTorrents through a sting operation.
He was transferred to a hospital in December after complaining about back problems. His treatment continued in a Warsaw prison.
Earlier this year, Polish courts ruled that Vaulin may be extradited to the US. It only remains to be determined whether he will be extradited.
As part of the bail conditions, Vaulin is not allowed to leave Poland.
TorrentFreak reported that Vaulin’s lawyer is confident they will win their case.
“We look forward to the US Federal Court ruling on his pending motion to dismiss. If the US indictment is defective then extradition based on the indictment is erroneous – Artem shouldn’t have to leave his family behind,” said lawyer Ira Rothken.
