Airbnb hosts in Namibia must register or go to jail

Airbnb hosts in Namibia risk imprisonment if they do not register with Namibia’s tourism regulator, reported Reuters.

The report stated that any establishment offering accommodation with two or more bedrooms must register with the tourism board.

If they do not, they may face a fine, a prison term of two years, or both.

“We need to guarantee the health and safety of guests, but we cannot do that if the accommodation is not registered or regulated,” said the Namibia Tourism Board.
