Facebook is changing its news feed, which will now prioritise posts from friends and family, and show fewer posts from publishers or businesses.
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg explained that a focus for the company in 2018 is making sure the time people spend on Facebook is time well spent.
According to Zuckerberg, Facebook users complained that public content is crowding out personal moments.
This sparked a change in the goal of Facebook’s product teams – helping users to have more meaningful social interactions.
“It will take months for this new focus to make its way through all our products,” said Zuckerberg.
As Facebook makes these updates, Pages may see their reach, video watch time, and referral traffic decrease.
“The impact will vary from Page to Page, driven by factors including the type of content they produce and how people interact with it,” said Facebook.
