Snapchat gets privacy-focussed developer platform

Snapchat

Snapchat has launched its developer platform, called Snap Kit, TechCrunch reported.

Its application programming interfaces will let developers build apps that use Snap’s login, Bitmoji avatars, display public Our Stories and Snap Map content, and generate branded stickers with referral links that users can share inside Snapchat.

The Snap Kit website is also focussed on privacy, highlighting the following features of the platform:

  • It only shares your display name and Bitmoji when logging in.
  • You don’t share any of your friends’ data when logging in with Snap Kit.
  • Apps are automatically disconnected after 90 days of inactivity.

Launch partners for Snap Kit include Tinder, Patreon, and Postmates.
