Microsoft recently confirmed it is building a new Edge browser based on the open-source Chromium project.
Chromium is the web rendering engine which powers Google’s Chrome browser, and will replace Microsoft’s EdgeHTML rendering engine which is currently used in the Edge browser.
According to a new report by Neowin, the first screenshots of what the browser will look like have emerged.
The screenshots, posted below, show a developer version of the browser in its current state – and it is said to look like the Chrome browser.
“A lot of the design language and icons have remained similar to what they were like before, but there are definitely many changes that will be familiar to Chrome users,” stated the report.
Microsoft previously said it expects to have a preview build of its new Chromium-based browser ready in early 2019.
