Google+ to remove private profiles

In an announcement published as a Help article, Google warned that since private profiles hindered user attempts to find and connect with other members of Google+, the company will begin to delete all private user profiles after 31 July 2011.

News website Cnet did contact Google for comment on whether the search giant had already started deleting profiles, though the spokeswoman could only reiterate the contents of the original help article.

While making your profile public is now mandatory on Google Plus, it doesn’t mean that all your information needs to be visible. Google only requires that your full name be visible to make the profile “public”. Other information can be hidden at will through the edit profile functions.
