Ant Brooks steps down as ISPA GM

Summary: Ant Brooks announced today (23 September 2011) that he will step down as ISPA general manager, but will remain involved with the organization

The Internet Service Providers Association (ISPA) was established on 6 June 1996, and since its humble beginnings has grown to represent in excess of 150 Internet Service Providers in South Africa.

The Minister of Communications formally recognised ISPA as an Industry Representative Body in terms of section 71 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, 2002 on 20 May 2009.

Speaking at the 2011 ISPA iWeek today (23 September), current General Manager Ant Brooks said that it was his last iWeek as General Manager.

Brooks was instrumental in the operations for ISPA since it was founded, and was a key player in many developments in the South African Internet environment.

Brooks however said that he is not “going very far”, and will stay on as part of the executive committee for at least two years in an advisory capacity.

At the same time Lynne Orrock also announced that she will not be available for re-election as ISPA Joint-Chair.
