The 2011 sales chart from DNJournal, an industry publication for domain names, reveals that “social.com” is the most expensive domain name sold in 2011 at a respectable price of $2.6 million.

Other noteworthy sales include “domainname.com” at a cool million dollars and “runningshoes.com” which sold for $700,000.

3. Aktien.de ( “shares” in German ) – $725,000
4. RunningShoes.com – $700,000 dollars each
5. VU.com – $700,000 dollars each
6. Answer.com – $ 550,000
7. Puzzle.com – $500,000
8. GamesForGirls.com – $500,000
9. Gay.XXX – $500,000
10. Meet.me – $ 450,000
11. AutoInsurance.org – $440,000
12. Look.com – $400,000
13. 33.com – $358,000

These prices are however much lower than sex.com which sold for $13 million. The most expensive domain names of all time are:
