Telegram users on Android and iOS are getting some significant upgrades, including channel suggestions, the ability to repost stories, and voice-to-text transcription for free users, the company has announced.
The voice message transcription feature was previously only available to Premium users. However, there is a limit for free users — they can only transcribe two messages per week.
“With this update, all users can convert up to 2 messages per week into text — simply tap the →A icon to try it out,” said Telegram.
“Telegram Premium still allows for unlimited voice-to-text conversion.”
The company is also rolling out a channel suggestion feature that will recommend similar channels when a user joins a new one.
Telegram will only recommend public channels, and suggestions are based on similarities in subscriber bases.
All Telegram users can now also repost stories from their contacts or channels to which they are subscribed.
The company says users who repost stories can add extra content, including text, audio, or video comments.
Regarding the latter, Telegram is rolling out a feature that lets users add a video bubble to their stories.
“When posting a story, you can now add a video message to supply commentary or simply make a face,” said Telegram.
Video messages in stories can be resized and moved around the screen.
“The creative possibilities are endless — from giving backstory to a photo to creating a video conversation with yourself as different characters,” it added.
