The July 2012 Effective Measure statistics revealed that News24 is the most popular local website among South Africans, followed by Howzit.MSN and IOL.
Effective Measure is the official traffic measurement partner of the Digital Media and Marketing Association (DMMA), and provides accurate traffic statistics for South Africa’s top websites.
According to the July 2012 Effective Measure statistics, News24 attracted 2,027,167 unique South African visitors, followed by Howzit.MSN (1,639,540 unique SA visitors), and IOL (1,056,345 unique SA visitors).
It should be noted that these rankings do not include international websites such as Google, Facebook, or YouTube. Using Alexa’s rankings shed some light on which international websites are the most popular among local Internet users.

These statistics shows which local websites attract the largest audiences, instead of the previous criteria which shows websites that are the most popular among South African Internet users.
