South Africa’s top dogs online

South African websites

Effective Measure released its September 2012 website statistics recently, revealing that News24 is the most popular local website among South Africans, followed by Howzit.MSN and IOL.

Effective Measure is the official traffic measurement partner of the Digital Media and Marketing Association (DMMA), and provides accurate traffic statistics for South Africa’s top websites.

According to the September 2012 Effective Measure statistics, News24 attracted 2,161,303 unique South African visitors, making it the top DMMA registered website in the country.

Howzit.MSN was ranked second with 1,589,631 unique SA visitors, followed by IOL with 1,100,295 unique local browsers.

With many important sporting events on the go it is not surprising that South Africa’s largest sporting websites, Sport24 and Supersport, also performed well last month.

The following table provides an overview of the most popular South African websites among local Internet users.
