Facebook hit by outage
Facebook users worldwide reported problems accessing the platform on Friday, 12 June 2026, and some have also reported that Messenger and Instagram are inaccessible.
MyBroadband attempted to access Facebook at around 16:00 on Friday, but the platform couldn’t load any content. Its logos and webpage frames loaded, but nothing else populated.
Downdetector.co.za showed a significant spike in reports of problems with the Meta-owned Facebook and Instagram. However, the outage reporting platform also appears to be experiencing difficulties.
Trying to access the outage report charts for Facebook and Instagram presented a “404 — Page Not Found. The page you’re looking for doesn’t exist” error message.
Many Facebook and Instagram users from around the globe took to X to voice their frustration over the outage.
These included users in Thailand, India, Bangladesh, Spain, and South Africa, most of whom complained about issues accessing Facebook and Instagram.
“I thought I was banned from Facebook for doing the hoky poky, but it’s a major crash,” user @DesertedLookout posted.
“I thought my Facebook and Instagram accounts got suspended, but then came to X and realised the servers are down,” user @MemeCreaker said.
Another user posted that Facebook was down, but its ads manager remained operational. This is curious considering Meta’s own status website showed “High Disruptions” for Facebook Ads Manager.
“We are aware that some advertisers may be having trouble creating or editing their ads in Ads Manager,” Meta said about ad creation and editing.
“Our engineering teams are aware of the issue and are actively looking to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.”
It also showed “High Disruptions” for ad delivery and ads reporting. Meta said its engineers were attending to the issues as it recovered from an earlier outage.
“We are aware of an issue that may be impacting ad delivery. Our engineering teams are aware and are actively looking to resolve the issue as quickly as possible,” Meta said.
“We are recovering from an earlier outage that caused some advertisers to have trouble accessing or viewing ads reporting, and services are in the process of being restored.”
