Cybersmart has launched a new web based video surveillance solution, known as MVaaS (Managed Video as a Service), which provides surveillance services to businesses and residential customers.
The service stores and manages video content in the cloud, using IP cameras to record activity in a location where the camera is installed.
iPhone and Android applications are available where users can monitor the live stream or recorded streams.
Cebersmart CEO Laurie Fialkov said that the difference between their service and traditional CCTV services is that his service is in the cloud.
“The digital video recorder is not on site, which means that criminals cannot steal the physical equipment to get rid of recorded evidence,” said Fialkov.
Cybersmart IP video surveillance prices
Cybersmart is offering three video surveillance solutions: 1 day recording, 14 day recording and 30 day recording.
1 day recording is free to Cybersmart’s uncapped ADSL clients with speeds above 2Mbps. The 14 day option is priced at R125 per month while the 30 day recording costs R150 per month.
Non-Cybersmart clients will have to fork out more for the service – R149, R195 and R295 per month for a 1day, 14 day and 30 day service respectively.
“The monthly fee is on a per camera basis, so two cameras will cost twice as much,” said Fialkov.
“It is not really viable to have more than two cameras on a single ADSL line unless the line is dedicated for camera use only,” he said.
The once off cost for the IP camera is R1,500. Cybersmart is offering the option of a mini dome or cube camera.
