Kalahari Christmas shopping complaints

Disgruntled shoppers have taken to Facebook and Twitter to complain about their Christmas shopping at online retailer Kalahari being delayed.

The retailer has sent a number of its customers notices informing them that orders which were scheduled to arrive before Christmas day would instead be delivered well after the holiday.

Kalahari has acknowledged that there have been problems with some orders, correcting errors, expediting delivery, and offering refunds to clients complaining online.

Asked about the problems it is experiencing, a spokesperson for Kalahari told MyBroadband that less than 1% of its outstanding orders contain items that they have realised won’t arrive on time.

“As you can imagine, we literally ship hundreds of thousands of items out at this time if year and our staff will be working tirelessly throughout the weekend to ensure that there are presents underneath our customers’ trees come Christmas Eve,” the spokesperson said.

Kalahari said that its warehouse team and courier partners are banding together to ensure that they deliver.

“Unfortunately it does sometimes happen that we struggle to source stock of a last few items,” Kalahari said. “What this usually results in is a delay while suppliers wait on new stock.”

Kalahari said that knowing that it’s Christmas, it decided to be conservative in forewarning its customers as soon as possible if the timeous arrival of their gifts was in jeopardy.

“Many of our customers have responded in kind, thanking us for the heads up,” Kalahari said.

“It pains us to let down the handful whose Christmas gifts we won’t be able to deliver on time, but we hope that we’ve been able to provide them with enough warning to ensure that there is still a gift for everyone to unwrap come Christmas morning,” said Kalahari.
