Watch the fastest car in the world smash 0 – 100km/h record

A group of students from GreenTeam Uni Stuttgart have set a new world record for a vehicle accelerating from 0 – 100km/h.

Their battery-powered car reached the speed from a standstill in 1.779 seconds. The attempt needs to be evaluated by Guinness World Records, but is quicker than the previous world record of 1.785 seconds by the AMZ Racing Team.

The “fastest accelerating vehicle on the planet” is an all-wheel drive electric racer producing 100kW of power.

According to the students’ website, the car’s specifications are as follows:

  • Power: 4 x 25kW motors
  • Weight: 165kg
  • Top speed: 130km/h
  • Battery capacity: 6.62kWh
