Tesla Model 3 registrations smash through 270,000
Over 276,000 people have reserved their place in line for a Tesla Model 3, The Wall Street Journal reported.
Tesla unveiled the Model 3 on 1 April, announcing that the slick 5-seater will have a range of 346km and a price tag of $35,000.
It received 115,000 registrations for the Model 3 on launch day, with the car set to reach customers by the end of 2017.
The registrations are not orders, although those interested had to put down $1,000 as part of the reservation.
The Model 3 is shipping to several countries Tesla hasn’t launched in before, including South Africa.
Deliveries will begin in North America, with shipments to follow in “Europe, APAC, and right-hand drive markets”.
Tesla Model 3 deliveries in South Africa are expected to begin in 2018.
