Watch: Tesla Model S catches fire and is consumed in 5 minutes

A Tesla Model S that was on a test drive in France has caught fire and been consumed by the blaze, Ars Technica reported.

The four people in the vehicle were able to safely escape.

Tesla confirmed the incident, saying it was working with authorities to find out what happened.

French newspaper Sud Ouest reported that the driver was accelerating when there was a sudden loud noise.

The car showed a warning message, upon which the Tesla employee in the car asked the driver to stop.

Everyone disembarked and within a minute the car was in flames. After five minutes, it was totally destroyed.
