Tesla will no longer offer free unlimited charging through its global Supercharger Network.
The company said that for cars ordered after 1 January 2017, 400kWh of free Supercharging credits – which comes to around 1,600km – will be included annually.
“Beyond that, there will be a small fee to Supercharge which will be charged incrementally,” said Tesla.
Tesla didn’t announce pricing, which will be based on the cost of electricity, but will release more details later in the year.
“Our Supercharger Network will never be a profit centre.”
Tesla said all its cars will continue to come standard with Supercharging capabilities.
