Airbus plans to test a flying car prototype before the end of the year, reports Reuters.
Airbus Group CEO Tom Enders said the flying car could be a solution to avoiding traffic on city roads.
“One hundred years ago, urban transport went underground. Now we have the technological wherewithal to go above ground,” said Enders.
“We are in an experimentation phase, we take this development very seriously.”
The flying car prototype will be self-piloted, implementing technologies such as autonomous driving and artificial intelligence.
Enders said flying cars will reduce traffic congestion on roads and lower future infrastructure costs.
