Toyota in licensing deal with Microsoft

Microsoft has announced a patent licensing agreement with Toyota that includes broad coverage for connected car technologies.

“Today’s agreement builds on Toyota and Microsoft’s strong partnership, which includes their collaboration on the Azure-based Toyota Big Data Center,” said Microsoft.

“Microsoft invests $11.4 billion annually in research and development, and for more than 30 years has been developing innovative technologies that are powering today’s connected car experiences.”

While Microsoft doesn’t make cars, the company said it is working closely with car companies to “help them meet customer demands”.
