Renault has unveiled its R.S. 2027 Vision, the Formula 1 car of the future.
The company said the racer, which was revealed in China at Auto Shanghai 2017, is what it sees Formula 1 cars looking like in 2027.
The transparent cockpit and a transparent helmet will put the driver “at the heart of the sport”, while active LED lighting incorporated into the wheels put on a “spectacular show”.
Renault’s Vision also features an autonomous mode in case of an accident, and an ultra-resistant polycarbonate body.
The vehicle will feature “four-wheel drive, four-wheel steering, and very high-energy density batteries”, which will be used for a full-electric mode while in the pits.
