Lyft and Waymo work together on self-driving cars

Waymo has partnered with Lyft to work on autonomous vehicle technology, according to a report from the New York Times.

The Google-owned self-driving car company confirmed it partnered with Lyft to improve autonomous vehicle technology and collaborate on product development, stated the report.

The companies did not specify what products or technologies would be launched as a result of the deal.

According to the report, the partnership between Waymo and Lyft could indicate that Waymo’s self-driving car technology is ready for real-world implementation.

Lyft is the biggest competitor to Uber, which is also working on autonomous vehicle technology.
