Tesla Model X the first SUV to achieve 5-star crash rating in every category

Tesla Model X

The Tesla Model X SUV has performed well in crash safety tests, with the company stating it made the car to be the “safest SUV ever”.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration stated that testing on the Model X resulted in a 5-star rating in every category and sub-category.

This is the first time an SUV has earned 5-star ratings across the board, said Tesla.

“Of all the cars NHTSA has ever tested, Model X’s overall probability of injury was second only to Model S,” it said.

Tesla added that due to the placement of the SUV’s batteries underneath its floor, the Model X also has the lowest rollover probability of any SUV on the road.

The results showed that Model X occupants have an overall 93% probability of walking away without a serious injury in a serious crash.
