The head of Tesla’s autopilot software, Chris Lattner, has left the company less than six months after joining it, Reuters reported.
Lattner and Tesla said that they weren’t “the right fit” for one another.
“Turns out that Tesla isn’t a good fit for me after all. I’m interested to hear about interesting roles for a seasoned engineering leader,” Lattner said on Twitter.
Reuters reported that Tesla has hired Andrej Karpathy, former research scientist at OpenAI, as director of AI and the Tesla Vision team.
Karpathy will work closely with Jim Keller, who has assumed overall responsibility for Tesla’s autopilot software and hardware.
