Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced that the car manufacturer has taken colours “off the menu” in an effort to boost production.
Musk tweeted that removing two colour options allows the company to simplify manufacturing, aiding its ability to meet production goals.
The two colour options – Obsidian Black and Metallic Silver – will still be available as a special request for an additional fee.
Two months ago, Tesla reached its initial Model 3 production goals, which Musk said proved the company’s ability to compete as a real automaker.
Tesla’s share price has been negatively affected recently following Musk’s statement that he was considering taking the company private – prompting scrutiny from the US Securities and Exchange Commission.
Moving 2 of 7 Tesla colors off menu on Wednesday to simplify manufacturing. Obsidian Black & Metallic Silver will still be available as special request, but at higher price.
