Google expanding Googleplex compound
Google is preparing to upgrade their Mountain View headquarters, which will soon house a 120,000 square foot “Google Experience Centre”, serving as a private museum and meeting area.
The expansion is also expected to include larger in-house lab testing facilities for the company’s “@home” project, rumoured to be a home entertainment device.
“The Experience Centre would not typically be open to the public – consisting of invited groups, and guests whose interests will be as vast as Google’s range of products, and often confidential,” said Andrew Burnett, an architect working on the project.
Meanwhile, the labs will be designed to screen out RF frequencies, and be used “to test the Wi-Fi performance and development of a consumer product,” said a Google official.
