TwitPic iPhone app launches
TwitPic is becoming Twitter’s primary photo-sharing platform with the release of its first mobile application.
Now, with over 35 million users, TwitPic allows users to quickly post photos and videos, as well as share and view other popular content.
The iPhone app (with an Android version incoming) will feature a built-in photo editor, similar to that of Instagram.
TwitPic originally launched in 2008, although Twitter backed third-party-developed Photobucket as a primary media-sharing platform for the social network.
“We’ve always relied on third-party developers … but we wanted to provide a better experience for our users,” founder Noah Everett said, while explaining that the company is focusing on in-house platform development.
The TwitPic app is available today.
