Facebook asks for your number
In an effort to up the social network’s security, Facebook is asking users to enter their phone numbers as a security precaution.
In the next few days, users will receive a notice that will take them to the security page of the website. Once there, users are taught how to spot a scam, choose a unique password and confirm their mobile number.
The point of this is to counter hacked accounts or stolen passwords, as Facebook will wipe compromised passwords and immediately SMS the victimised user a new password.
The security boost could be seen as a result of the recent LinkedIn hack, which saw thousands of user passwords being stolen.
