The world’s cheapest tablet?
British manufacturing and marketing company, Datawind has announced the Aakash 2 – and it could be the world’s cheapest tablet on offer.
The Aakash 2 is launching as part of India’s National Education Day, and will be available to Indian students for Rs 1,130 (around R180).
The barebones tablet features a 7-inch touch panel; 1GHz Cortex-A8 processor; 512MB of RAM; 4GB of Flash storage; Android 4.0.3; built-in WiFi; and a front-facing VGA camera.
The distribution of the tablets is said to allow for greater educational applications.
The Indian Government has chosen 244 engineering colleges in the country that will work as remote centres for “Aakash in Education” programme
