Police Minister Nkosinathi Nhleko recently released the Nkandla report, which found that President Jacob Zuma does not have to repay any money for the security upgrades to his private home.
The Police Minister’s report contradicts Public Protector Thuli Madonsela’s Nkandla report, which found that Zuma had unduly benefited from the R246-million security upgrades to his homestead.
Madonsela recommended that Zuma pay back a reasonable percentage of the cost of features which do not relate to security.
The features mentioned in Madonsela’s report which do not relate to security include a fire pool‚ amphitheatre‚ kraal‚ chicken run, and visitor’s centre.
However, the Police Minister explained that these features do assist with security at Nkandla, and are necessary to keep the President safe.
