Elon Musk launches Neuralink to link brains to computers

Elon Musk has launched a new venture call Neuralink, which is focused on linking human brains with computers, The Wall Street Journal reports.

The company will work on developing neural lace technology, which allows humans to communicate with machines using signals from their brains.

A neural lace is a wireless brain implant which would theoretically remove any physical interface between humans and computers.

While a direct link between human brains and computers only exists in the realm of science fiction, the report states that Neuralink’s first products could include brain implants to treat disorders like epilepsy and depression.

Musk has previously stated to fans and spoken at the World Government Summit about his plans to work on neural lace technology.

Neuralink was reportedly registered as a medical research company based in California.
