Samsung to provide more over-the-air updates for Android
Samsung is planning to deliver regular over-the-air security updates for its Android-based Galaxy devices.
Security Week reported that Samsung will implement a new Android security update process “that fast tracks mobile security patches over the air when security vulnerabilities are uncovered”.
According to Security Week, the updates will be released around once per month, aimed at plugging security holes.
The news follows after Zimperium released information about an Android vulnerability which makes it possible for an attacker to take over a smartphone and steal information.
The worst part of the vulnerability is that the attacker only needs to know your mobile number.
The vulnerability, named Stagefright, is a media library that processes media formats. The problems in Stagefright code expose 95% of Android devices, which is close to a billion phones.
