The most common Ashley Madison passwords revealed

CynoSure Prime recently announced it had cracked millions of Ashley Madison user passwords, and has now released information regarding these passwords.

The Ashley Madison password statistics are based on 11.7 million passwords which were cracked.

CynoSure Prime said the majority of passwords they cracked were simple – either lowercase with numbers or just lowercase.

“The shortest password we cracked had a character length of 1, while the longest was length 28,” the group said.

“We normally expect to see more length 7 characters, but, as evident from the results, this was not the case.”

Most popular passwords

According to data released by Quartz, the most common passwords were 123456, 12345, and password.
