US launches cyber attacks against ISIS
The USA’s Cyber Command is launching its first attacks against ISIS, using computer-network infiltration in a bid to stop the Islamic State.
According to a report by the New York Times, the cyber attacks will include interrupting payments to fighters and the imitation of commanding officers.
The report stated that Cyber Command had previously been focussed on Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea – where cyber attacks on the USA most frequently originate.
It has not run any significant operations against ISIS before this, and the move marks a shift in the country’s combat strategy.
