The Mall of Africa has been targeted by criminals after its high-profile opening in April, but the shopping centre is fighting back with strong security measures.
Mall of Africa spokesperson Vanessa Fourie told MyBroadband they prepared by bringing in extra security staff and established an emergency office manned by the SAPS and JMPD.
“The SAPS and JMPD employed an additional 42 officers on site at the Mall of Africa,” she said.
Other security measures remain in place to ensure crime-fighting capabilities are in place at the shopping centre, she added.
“We have Fidelity as our security company, they have many years’ experience in retail environments, their complement is guided by industry norms,” said Fourie.
“The guards are supported by a state-of-the-art CCTV system. We too have a dedicated security manager onsite full-time.”
She said the Mall of Africa is working with its tenants and their security staff to gain insight into the security challenges they face.
