Hackers say they are selling NSA cyber weapons

A group called The Shadow Brokers claims it has hacked a government hacking group linked to the NSA.

Motherboard reported that The Shadow Brokers claim they hacked Equation Group, a code name for a government hacking group believed to be in the NSA.

“We follow Equation Group traffic. We find Equation Group source range. We hack Equation Group. We find many many Equation Group cyber weapons,” the Shadow Brokers’ website stated.

By the time of publication, the website was no longer available.

“You see pictures. We give you some Equation Group files free, you see. This is good proof no? You enjoy!!! You break many things. You find many intrusions. You write many words. But not all, we are auction the best files.”

The group asked for 1 million bitcoins (R7.6 billion), but the bidding kicked off at a modest 0.0069 BTC (R52.36).
