Gauteng shopping malls hit by bomb threats and robbery

Three Gauteng shopping malls have experienced disruptions, caused by two bomb threats and an armed robbery.

The Midrand Reporter said two bomb threats have disrupted operations at the Crowthorne Shopping Centre and the Fourways Mall.

“There are currently two bomb scares at two different locations. Police officials and the dog unit are currently at both scenes investigating,” said Douglasdale CPF, Jean Berdou.

This news follows a report that a Telkom store in Rosebank Mall was robbed by armed gunmen.

“We are closed for the whole day. We had a robbery this morning, that is all I can say right now,” said a Telkom employee.

The Rosebank Mall security office told MyBroadband that the Telkom story robbery involved three males and one female, with two other suspects waiting in a getaway car.

The criminals got away with “two big brown bags, filled with goods”, said the security officer.
