Microsoft employees could monitor all your communications – Report

Two former Microsoft employees are suing the company, claiming their jobs caused them to develop post-traumatic stress disorder.

The workers were part of Microsoft’s Online Safety Team and were responsible for screening customer communications for child pornography and other criminal activities.

According to a lawsuit filed on 30 December, the employees had “God-like” status and could view any customer’s communications at any time.

The two Online Safety Team workers regularly viewed traumatic videos of criminal acts and distressing pornographic content as part of their job, and they claim they were refused any form of sufficient therapy to cope with the subsequent mental damage.

Microsoft allegedly did not provide the employees with appropriate psychological healthcare, instead advising they take more smoke breaks and play video games.

According to the lawsuit, both employees have exhibited symptoms of debilitating PTSD which has affected them in both a professional and personal capacity.
