Windows 10 update reminder to keep computers safe

Windows 10

Users who run Windows 10 version 1507 will start receiving security update notifications.

“Windows 10 version 1507 is currently at end of service, which means devices running these operating systems will no longer receive the monthly security and quality updates,” said Microsoft.

The company said the updates contain protection against the latest security threats.

“To continue receiving security and quality updates, Microsoft recommends updating to the latest version of Windows 10.”

The update notifications form part of Microsoft’s initiative to fight ransomware attacks – like NotPetya and WannaCry – which crippled many computer systems.

“The most secure Windows device today is an updated one: running both the most recent feature update and the most recent monthly quality update,” said Microsoft.

“In each monthly quality update, we add another layer of security, one that tracks emerging and changing trends in malware to make up-to-date systems safer in the face of changing and evolving threats.”
