South African presidency website hacked

The thepresidency.gov.za website was hacked today, 7 July 2018.

According to a report by News24, the hack was executed to display a message by the attackers on the website’s home page.

“Hacked by Black Team. Sahara is Moroccan. And Morocco is ur Lord!” stated the home page message.

The Presidency stated that it was aware of the attack on its website.

“Our technicians are currently investigating the incident,” said government spokesperson Khusela Diko.

The site was taken offline by the government when the attack was brought to its attention. It has subsequently been repaired and put back online.
