Samsung Galaxy S5 accidental damage warranty in SA

Samsung Galaxy S5 group

Samsung Galaxy S5 buyers in South Africa will receive the “Samsung Premium” warranty on the device, an industry source has told MyBroadband.

When asked to confirm or deny whether the Galaxy S5 would include its Premium warranty in South Africa, a Samsung spokesperson said that all information will be shared at the launch event on 10 April 2014.

The Samsung Premium warranty is the same one that launched with the Galaxy Note 3, which according to Samsung’s website includes the following four elements: Samsung ADH, Smart Swap, Smart Pick Up, and Smart Value.

Samsung ADH was first introduced with the Samsung Galaxy S4 and includes two free no-questions-asked screen or liquid damage repairs on the device over 24 months.

Smart swap” takes this a step further by granting “instant swap outs” if your device goes in for repair under ADH. According to Samsung, you receive a loan device that is the same as the one you sent in for repair.

Smart Pick-up” offers free collection of a damaged device and 24-hour delivery of a replacement in all major centres in South Africa.

Smart value” offers guaranteed future buyback of a device covered by Samsung Premium within the first 12 months of ownership. The buyback price is set at 25% of the recommended retail price of the device at the time of purchase.

If you trade in your device under Smart Value for another Samsung device covered by Samsung Premium, the unused benefits on that device carry over to the next 24 month period.
